As a platform and online marketplace, Sinistar does not provide legal advice.
However, Quebec’s Tourist Accommodation Act states that it applies to establishments providing accommodation to tourists in return for payment, for a period not exceeding 31 days.
The Law defines “tourist” as follows:
“a person who takes a leisure or business trip, or a trip to carry out remunerated work, of not less than one night outside their principal residence.”
When you rent through Sinistar, you are hosting people who have suffered damage to their home. For example, a fire, floor or water damage. They are not staying in your accommodation for pleasure or business purposes, or to carry out remunerated work.
In other words, this law may not apply to you. If you have any questions about the Law or its application, please seek professional legal advice.
⚠️ Important |
If you also host tourists, you must comply with the Law. In this case, know your obligations. |
